1 Photographer VS 2 Photographers

Which is right for your wedding?

When it comes to weddings, the moment you get engaged everyone is a wedding planner. They all have their own take on what you “need” to do and what you “need” to have. Our feelings are, if you like what the second photographer brings to the table, add him/her, if not, then don’t.  It is just that simple.

Let’s start with what the second photographer actually does.  They start with the groom, getting his details and his getting ready photos.  These images are great to have when you are putting images together for your wedding album.  It allows viewer of the album to see what it was like to start with the guys, as well as the girls.  Without these images, the first time you see the groom is when he is at the altar.

After the getting ready portion of the wedding day is completed.  The duties of the second photographer are to get the candid photographs of the day.  These images are in my opinion the heart and soul of the wedding day.  While the main photographer has to get your “first kiss” from the center of the isle, the second photographer can get your friends & families reaction to the first kiss.  They are always on the lookout for emotions, whether it be tears of joy, laughter, little glances or just unexpected moments, the second photographer is always looking for these images that the main photographer simply can not get.

Don’t get me wrong, the main photographer will absolutely get some candid photos, but that is only when there are no “must have” photos to take.  So if you feel these images are important to you, then you might want to think about adding a second photographer to your photography contract.  If not, then that’s ok too! This is your wedding, you do what you feel is right for you and your budget.
